List Guidelines
Updated June 2011
Digital Eve Israel is a women’s business networking organization, with over 2900 members. Typical list posts include recommendations and advice on services that are work related, job postings, and discussions of professional women’s issues. The list is fully moderated based on best practice of successful lists of a community nature in Israel and abroad. The list is active and busy with about 15 – 20 postings a day and most of these are on-topic and relevant.
Our moderator at present is Laurie Marr. She is supported by the List Steering Committee.
Following are the list guidelines:
- Postings should be on-topic. Anything generally relating to business and/or women’s issues from a professional or career perspective is on-topic. We encourage discussion of issues relating to women in the workplace, high-tech culture, etc.
- All postings must be signed in full name and contain a subject line.
- Political issues are considered off-topic.
- On-topic advertisements for your business are allowed once a quarter per advertiser or in response to a question on the list. On-topic advertising typically means relating to professional services.
- Product or service specific advertising is not allowed unless this is in the once per quarter advertising quota. e.g No advertising of office space, selling of office furniture etc.
- In keeping with the open, fair and supportive ethos of the list we ask that there be no personalized, negative postings on companies, organizations or individuals on the list. If you have had a bad experience you may choose to reply to someone off-line to discuss the issue in question. In the event you would like to warn people about a certain provider or organization, you may note that you have comments on this and if someone would like to learn more – they can contact you off-line. This relates not only to slander, but also to using harsh language or being personally offensive.
- Any post that is clearly of relevance to one individual rather than to the whole list is considered off topic. For example, professional services provided in Israel are generally considered on-topic while services outside Israel are considered useful only to the person who requested the information.
- Any link that is sent over the list must present on-topic relevance to the list, as well as state clearly what the link is about, such as: recommending a professional service in relation to a request on the list, an article about women professional related issue, etc.
- Promoting other lists on DEI or forwarding events of other lists is generally not recommended; otherwise the traffic on the list will peak. However, if there is major relevance to a certain issue discussed, then you may send the link, with the same guidelines such as in the former paragraph (stating relevance and subject of the link or event).
- Thank yous, holiday greetings and jokes will generally be considered off-topic.
- The Moderator may request that a posting be amended to meet these guidelines rather than reject it outright.
- Most postings are posted within 24 hours. However, at peak times please allow more time for posts to be put on the list.
- Any member who directly attacks another member in a public forum will be asked to leave Digital Eve. Once this has happened, a member will not be reinstated if anyone on the DEI Steering Board feels that there is a chance that similar attacks are still likely to be made by this member.
- Charity or not-for-profit related postings are welcome and will be posted once a month on Digital Eve Care & Share Day. This will take place on the first day of each calendar month or the next working day if this falls on a weekend.
- All posts must be signed with your full name ( given name and surname). Unsigned posts and aliases will not be posted. You are welcome to request that people do not respond to you and request that they respond elsewhere or to note if you are posting for someone else.
- The ethos of this organization is at the heart of all our success and is based on respect for each other and willingness to help. This means: appropriately respectful language and tone in posts, letting organizers know if you cannot attend an event for which you have registered and responding to posts on and off-line in good faith
